All About New Collar Jobs
Can we retire the idea that changing careers means starting over? 🙃
Not necessarily! In fact, most likely not!
There's a whole category of roles emerging that care far more about what you can do than where you learned to do it.
Let's talk about new-collar jobs—and why your next career move might be a lot closer than you think.

I think we need to retire this notion that if you want to change careers, you have to start totally and completely from scratch. Because the fact is, you absolutely do not!
There's actually a whole category of roles now, perfect for people who want to make a pivot but do not want to go all the way back to square one. They're called new collar jobs.
New collar jobs are actually roles that are prioritizing skill over a degree. So instead of asking, "Where did you go to school?" They're asking, "What can you actually do?"
Employers are realizing that degrees don't automatically equal capability, especially as skills are evolving in real time. At the same time, there's AI, which is reshaping the entire workforce, totally eliminating some roles while creating ones that weren't even in existence just a few years ago.
That means there are new opportunities in places like digital marketing, project management, AI support and training, tech-enabled healthcare, and customer and operations that require systems thinking.
And a lot of these roles are high-paying, remote or hybrid, and actually perfect for people who are intentionally making a career pivot.
So instead of asking yourself, "Do I need to go back to school?" Ask yourself another question, "What skills do I already have, and how can I build on them strategically?"
Because let's face it, most career transitions aren't about totally starting over. They're about translating what you already know into a new and different context.
The rules of career growth are changing fast, and the people set up to win in this market aren't necessarily the ones with the most credentials. They're the ones who can learn, adapt, and position their skills wisely.
So if you have been feeling stuck or stalled or like you have to burn it all down in order to make a change, you don't. You just need a smarter path forward.
