Doomscrolling with a Cover Letter
Respectfully... refreshing LinkedIn every 17 minutes isn't a job search strategy. 😂
Neither is rage-clicking Easy Apply because you're tired of hearing crickets.
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times: Activity doesn't always equal progress.
If you're firing off 50 applications with the same résumé, you're probably staying busy instead of getting traction.
And if that hits a little too close to home, you're in good company. 🫶🏽

All of us have that day where we have spent hours job searching and somehow have turned up absolutely nothing.
You have refreshed LinkedIn 47 times.
Scrolled through hundreds of job postings and
maybe even hit that Easy Apply button once or twice just to feel even more productive.
You will not be surprised that that is called Doomjobbing, and it might be the one thing that is slowing down your job search the most right now.
Here's why it's so sneaky. Doomjobbing feels productive You're searching, you're clicking, you're applying, but you're not actually moving your search forward. Instead, you're just feeding anxiety.
The more overwhelmed we become, the easier it is to convince ourselves that doing something is better than doing the right thing.
So we scroll. We apply to those jobs we don't even want. We send that same old résumé to 50 different places, and then we wonder, "Why isn't anything happening?"
That behavior in this economy? Nope, not for you.
The people I see getting interviews aren't the ones applying to the most jobs. They are the ones applying with intention. They know what they're looking for. They're crafting their résumé for every single role. They're out there networking. They spend less time scrolling and more time positioning themselves.
So, if your job search has started to feel like doom scrolling with a cover letter, it might be time to stop chasing momentum and start developing a strategy.
Because five intentional applications will almost always beat 50 anxious ones. And trust me, your future self will thank you.
