Getting Past the Cringe

“How are you getting past the cringe?!”

This is the question I keep getting lately—at least once a week—now that I’ve entered my content creation era.

To answer your next question: no, I am not a content creator. I’m just a gal with opinions and an iPhone who decided to stop overthinking it. 😳

Along with “What equipment are you using?!” (My iPhone and a bay window, bbs), the question I keep getting is:

“How are you getting past the cringe?”

And honestly? I don’t know that you ever fully do.

I just stopped waiting to feel comfortable before hitting publish.

Because for all of us—truly all of us—posting feels exposed at first.

You assume everyone is watching. You reread things ten times. You wonder if you sound awkward or obvious or like you’re trying too hard.

(You probably are. We all are.)

But here’s the tea 🍵:

The internet moves faster than our embarrassment. People scroll, they move on, and the moment you overthink is usually gone in seconds.

And the more you do it, the less dramatic it feels. It just becomes… normal.

You post. People respond. Conversations happen. Opportunities show up.

Not because every post is perfect—but because you showed up at all.

If you’ve been wanting to post more, network more, or just put yourself out there a little more publicly, this is your reminder that you don’t have to feel ready first.

Turns out, most things get less cringey once you stop waiting and just do them anyway.

PS—Here are a few great stills from videos I've posted. My word, do I know how to make a face! 🫣 And why do I close my eyes so much?! And the lighting on the last one! I could critique myself for hours... You gotta just do it.
