Let's talk about ghost growth—and why "more responsibility" isn't the same thing as career growth. 👇🏽

Have you ever been told, "You are doing such a great job, we want to give you more responsibility"?
And your first thought was, "Okay, so where's the promotion?"
This is called ghost growth.
Ghost growth is when your role expands, bigger projects, more responsibility, and maybe even "leadership opportunities?" But your title, your pay, and your authority exactly the same.
So it looks like you're growing, but in reality, you're just doing a lot more. And here's the tricky part. Of course it doesn't feel bad at first. It feels validating, like you're being trusted and like you're being seen. But then time passes and that next step never actually comes.
Over time, that will start to drain your momentum, your energy, and your confidence.
Here's how I want you to think about it: Growth isn't just about what you're doing, it's about what changes because of it.
If your scope is expanding, something else should, too, whether that's your title, your compensation, or your influence.
Otherwise, it's not growth. So if you're in this right now, take this as your cue. Start tracking what you're taking on. Get clear on what you actually want next, and then have the conversation!
Because if your role has grown but your paycheck hasn't, that's not a waiting game, that is a signal.
