Should you try this small interview lie?
Full disclosure: when my mom saw the title of this video, she freaked out.
“I don’t think you should be telling people to lie!”
Relax, Debs. It’s not a lie, it’s a strategic way to create personal demand.
I’ll let you decide if this little interview hack is clever… or controversial. 👀

Here's a little secret. Being in demand, or at least making it look that way, could be your best job interviewing strategy. When you're asked, "Are you interviewing anywhere else?" My recommended response? "Yes!" Even if you're not. Why? Because scarcity creates value.
Think about it with luxury brands. When something is scarce and hard to get, we automatically put a higher price tag on it.
It is the same with job candidates. If a hiring manager thinks you have other options, they will automatically see you as more valuable and they'll wanna get you before someone else snags you up.
Here's how to play it smart. If asked where you're interviewing, just say something vague like, "I'd rather keep that confidential." And when it comes to pay, just say that you're interviewing for roles that pay you what you want, and then use those competing offers to negotiate.
Now, I am not saying to ever lie on your résumé or your overall skills in general because that will come back to bite you, but a little confidence mixed in with his in-demand mindset? That can change the whole game.
