The 5 Best Interview Questions

If interviews make your stomach drop, I've been there, and I feel you. 🤍

While you're anxious about how to answer curveballs from the team, remember this: YOU are allowed to ask real questions, too!

These five interview questions, recommended by career coach Amanda Augustine, CPCC, CPRW, help you:

↳ uncover real company culture (not the polished version)

↳ understand the challenges leadership is actually facing

↳ surface red flags before you accept an offer

#4 is one I swear by and recommend to all of my interview coaching clients.

  • Job interviews are stressful, am I right?

I know. I know. That's possibly the most Captain Obvious thing I can say.  But here is what I want to remind you. You are not the only one being interviewed. This is also an opportunity for you to interview them.

Wanna know the best questions to ask to make you stand out and ensure that you find the best fit? This one's for you.

Career coach Amanda Augustine recommends these five questions, and I have to say plus one to each of them.

    • First, what types of people tend to be successful here and who struggles or leaves?  This helps you figure out if the company culture fits your style.

    • What challenges will the team face in the next six to 12 months?  This one shows how the company handles change, and if you can be one to solve the problem.

    • If you could change one thing about the work environment or culture, what would it be?  This one gets you the honest scoop, not just PR talk.

    • Is there anything about my background or this conversation that makes you hesitant to move forward with me?  This one I love. It's bold, it's confident, and it gives you the opportunity to clear up any doubts that might be in the interviewers' minds.

    • How would you describe the company culture in three words. And can you give examples of how that shows up daily?  Because yes, you want to know exactly what it's like to work there day-to-day.

Do you have a favorite question that you ask in all of your interviews?
