A Girl Talk Testimonial
“Nicole, your leadership has single-handedly brought us to a place of closeness I’ve never experienced in another group.”
I was recently looking back at emails I used to write to my former small group.
We were together for two years because one of us (the one we’re blowing a kiss to 💋) would ultimately lose a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. While other tables shifted year to year, we stayed together—and walked through the missing as a unit.
Unsurprisingly, those notes were long. I wrote them every week—thoughtfully and intentionally.
They included encouragement, prompts to share what we were each grateful for, and simple requests for how we could show up for each other.
We may have only seen each other on Wednesday nights, but we were connected throughout the week. On purpose.
Real trust is built through investment. And investment, by definition, takes time.
So when I think about what Heidi wrote to me, it’s not just the words that get me—it’s what they point to.
That kind of closeness doesn’t happen by default. It happens when people feel safe enough to be real with each other. That’s always been the goal.
And it’s the heart behind Girl Talk.
