Market Brief: LinkedIn’s Job Search
This past month, I’ve been heads down, onboarding and ramping up in my new role with Broda Coaching—which has been exciting, busy, and a whole lot of newness all at once!
But if you know me, you know I’m always dreaming up the next thing to make the job search a little less lonely—and, if I’m honest, a whole lot more straightforward.
And now that I’m coming up for air, I’m excited to introduce something new:
The Monday Market Brief 📝
There is A LOT of information out there about hiring, recruiting, résumés, LinkedIn, job boards, AI, and the labor market.
And it is not always easy to figure out what’s actually new, what truly matters, and what, if anything, you should do differently because of it.
I’ve been career coaching outside of corporate for 5 years and writing résumés for nearly 8. That means I have a pretty deep well of experience to draw from—and, at this point, so does my very well-trained GPT. 😂
So, every Monday morning, I’m going to bring you the ONE headline you should know that week, what it means for your job search, and one actionable way to respond.
No need to wade through 47 articles, 5 reports, and everybody’s hot takes.
I’ve got you. 😉
And this week’s headline?
👉🏽 LinkedIn is beginning to retire its traditional job search.
Instead of searching only for a specific title (“Director of Operations,” for example), you can now describe what you’re looking for more naturally:
“Operations leadership roles in healthcare where I can use my experience scaling teams and improving customer experience.”
LinkedIn’s AI-powered search interprets the intent behind your request rather than relying entirely on exact titles and keywords.
That is good news for job seekers whose experience could translate across several functions or industries.
But there’s an important catch: LinkedIn may also use information from your profile and previous search activity to personalize the opportunities it shows you.
In other words, your profile is no longer only helping recruiters find you.
It may also influence which jobs find you.
🎯 Your actionable tip this week: Run three different LinkedIn searches:
→ Your exact target title
→ An adjacent function or title
→ Your strongest skills combined with your target industry
And before you do, make sure your profile clearly reflects the work you want next—not only the work you have done before.
AI-powered search does not mean keywords no longer matter. It means YOUR clarity matters even more.
Welcome to the Monday Market Brief! I’m so excited to be back with something I hope will make navigating this incredibly tough market just a little bit easier.
